The Polish-Lithuanian border region is opening a new chapter in the development of health tourism. Five exceptional health resorts – Augustów, Gołdap, Supraśl, Druskininkai and Birštonas, have joined forces to create a modern and attractive range of year-round holiday options based on health, nature and local culture.

This is a response to the changing needs of today’s tourists, who are increasingly seeking short, rejuvenating breaks, weekend getaways and the chance to regain their balance away from the fast pace of city life. The Polish-Lithuanian border region offers exceptional conditions for this sort of holiday all year round.

As part of the project ‘Partnership of Health Resorts for the Development of the Border Region’, co-financed by the Interreg VI-A Lithuania–Poland Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021–2027, the ‘Uzdrowiska Pogranicza’ Brand Strategy has been developed. The document sets out a common direction for the region’s development
and for building a strong health tourism brand in the border region between Poland and Lithuania.

The next, extremely important stage of the project has now begun – the joint implementation of the strategy by all partners. This involves carrying out promotional activities, developing joint tourism products and raising the profile of the region as a destination conducive to health, regeneration and active leisure.

The ‘Uzdrowiska Pogranicza’ brand represents a shared vision for the region’s development as a modern
and recognisable destination for health tourism. The project partners demonstrate that cross-border cooperation enables them to promote the border region’s attractions more effectively, develop an appealing offering for visitors and support the sustainable development of local communities.

Health, nature and culture form the common thread running through this initiative, inviting people to discover the border region as a place for rest, rejuvenation and a good life all year round.
