On 29 August 2026, Gołdap found itself at the centre of nationwide attention. As part of the ‘Summer with Polish Radio and Television’ event, our town hosted a crew from Polish Television and Polish Radio, providing a unique platform to promote Gołdap, Gołdap County and the entire Polish-Lithuanian border region.

One of the key elements of the event was the promotion of the ‘Borderland Spas’ brand, developed as part of the ‘Partnership of Spas for Borderland Development’ project. The collaboration between Gołdap, Augustów, Druskininkai, Birštonas and Supraśl aims to jointly harness the region’s spa, tourism and cultural potential, and to raise its profile as an attractive destination for rest and recuperation.

During the event, the ‘Uzdrowiska Pogranicza’ brand and strategy were presented, highlighting the potential of five locations situated on both sides of the border. The joint offering is based on what unites the region – health resorts, health and regeneration, active leisure, nature, cycle tourism, and local traditions and flavours.

Another key element of the promotional campaign was an open-air exhibition dedicated to the Borderland Health Resorts. The exhibition showcased Gołdap, Augustów, Druskininkai, Birštonas and Supraśl, highlighting their spa, tourist and cultural attractions. The exhibition remained open to residents and visitors to Gołdap over the following weeks.

The nationwide scope of the event also provided an opportunity to showcase Gołdap’s local heritage and cultural potential. Instructors and participants from the Gołdap Community Centre’s workshops took part in the programmes and events. There was also plenty of promotion of local culinary traditions – representatives of the Gołdap Cultural Centre spoke about the ‘Kartaczewo’ Regional Borderland Festival and its significance for promoting the region’s culinary heritage.

The highlight of the day was the ‘Summer with Polish Radio and Television’ concert, which drew a large audience and also brought Gołdap and the region to the attention of viewers across the country.

Taking part in the event provided another opportunity to promote the results of the project partners’ collaboration and to raise the profile of the Borderland Spas. The use of nationwide communication channels made it possible to reach a wide audience with information about the potential of the Polish-Lithuanian border region.

The project ‘Partnership of Health Resorts for the Development of the Border Region’ (LTPL00355) is being implemented under the Interreg VI-A Lithuania–Poland Programme 2021–2027.
