At the end of March this year, the Mayor of Gołdap signed a grant agreement for the project ‘Health Resort Partnership for Border Region Development’ (LTPL00355 – Health resorts) under the Interreg VI-A Lithuania–Poland Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021–2027.

This is one of the five so-called operations of strategic importance within the Programme, two of which are being implemented with the participation of beneficiaries from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

The aim of the project is to promote the sustainable development of spa tourism in the Polish-Lithuanian border region by creating and developing a competitive brand for spa resorts and improving public tourism infrastructure.

Implementation period: 01.02.2025-31.01.2028

Total project budget: EUR 7,412,986.51

European Union funding: EUR 5,930,389.20

Project partners: Gołdap Municipality, Augustów Town Council, Druskininkai Town Council and the Gołdap Community Centre.

Associated partners: Supraśl Local Authority and Birsztany Town Council.

This will be the first cooperation project of its kind between spa towns on the Polish-Lithuanian border. The activities planned under the project will help to strengthen cross-border cooperation between the partners, develop health resorts on the Polish-Lithuanian border, and create a competitive health tourism brand in the region.
